Samuel A. JOHNSON, Petitioner-Appellant,v.The UNITED STATES of America, Respondent-Appellee.
No. 78-2420.
United States Court of Appeals,Fifth Circuit.
June 27, 1980.

Samuel A. Johnson, pro se.
Joseph S. Cage, Jr., U. S. Atty., Theodore Garel, Jr., Asst. U. S. Atty., Shreveport, La., for respondent-appellee.
Appeal from the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
Before BROWN, GEWIN and POLITZ, Circuit Judges.

The district court dismissed for want of subject matter jurisdiction Johnson’s petition for habeas corpus filed pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2255. Johnson had been convicted and sentenced in the Western District of Louisiana. The district court concluded it lacked jurisdiction under 28 U.S.C. § 2254 because Johnson was incarcerated in an institution under the authority of the United States Parole Commission. This court affirmed the decision of the district court dismissing for want of jurisdiction. United States v. Johnson, 612 F.2d 442 (5th Cir. 1980).

The district court did not address the merits of Johnson’s petition. Whether or not Johnson’s indictment was defective, the court properly held that it had no jurisdiction over Johnson’s claim because he was incarcerated in an institution under the authority of the Parole Commission. See Guerro v. Mulhearn, 498 F.2d 1249, 1254-55 (1st Cir. 1974).

1. Display the measurements. The experiment can be viewed in real time as many items are reached (the solid object). To measure the temperature of the solid object the system uses a pyrometer of thermal emissivity high (0.95), the accuracy is about 0.01 degrees C.
2. How to run the experiment. At the main menu, select EXPERIMENT. The experiment must be run in: NOMINAL; the electric heater powered at maximum current. Every time you select the NOMINAL, the application will runs for 1 second the heater at the selected current. Every time a new measurement is taken the previous measurement will be cleared. To run the experiment for a longer period of time you may select the other options (SETTER or MULTIPLY) to raise and lower the heater current.
3. Setting the temperature. You need to set the temperature before running the experiment. It is done through the menu in the top of the screen. You need to choose three options: THE TEMPERATURE, the temperature that the experiment will reach, ACCELERATION, the average acceleration that the solid will reach during the experiment and the JITTER, this value indicates how fast the solid reaches the temperature that you set. You can select JITTER=100 or JITTER=NOMINAL.
4. Selection of the range. This option allows you to select the amount of time for a measurement. The default value is 60 seconds, but you can change this value. You can select ACCELERATION=NOMINAL if you want the application will record the average acceleration. You can select MULTIPLY if you want to speed up the experiment so that it can be run faster and better see the solid movement. You may also select SETTER to lower the heater current and to achieve higher peaks of temperature and acceleration.
5. View the experiment. To see the entire experiment you can select VIEW. In the bottom of the screen you will see the run time, the temperature, the acceleration and the JITTER. If you select VIEW you will also see the latest measurements, the difference between them is the JITTER value.
6. Saving the experiment. You have several options to save the experiment. The first one is to leave the experiment running. Another option is to stop the experiment. To leave the experiment running the user must press the CANCEL button. When the experiment is in RUNNING state, you may press the PRINT button to

A cross-platform, minimalist application, built for Windows XP (not compatible with Vista), that allows you to change the parameters of the experiments you want to perform and visualize their results.
To add a new experiment, you need to import the.inf file of the experiment you want to try, and it will be added to the main window.

The application currently supports the following experimental parameters:

Initial temperature

Final temperature

Distance of the tests from the heater

Current of the heater

Operating mode of the heater (Heat Only, Heat and Cool, Cool Only)

The experiment is converted to BPM and displayed in a field called Material

Importing experiments

Each experiment has a.inf file containing the experiment parameters. To import a new experiment, double-click the Experiment Manager file and open it, then press the Open button on the splash screen. In the window that appears, click the Browse… button to find the file.

At this point you may optionally load a new experiment by clicking the Open button in the same splash screen.

To add an existing experiment (the *.inf file) file, right-click the Experiment Manager file, select Add Experiment, then Browse… to find the file.Q:

Drupal 7 – How to know if user is posting in a certain content type

I’m using block visibility settings to hide a particular block on certain pages.
As the content gets created, the block gets hidden. But when a user posts a message in the specified content type, the block should get visible again.
Is there a way to know that a user is posting in a certain content type? I can detect if the message is in a particular post type, but I want to know if it is being posted in a certain content type.

Here’s what I do:
In my content-type.tpl.php I check for the my module in the theme_hook_preprocess_node. Using this in place of the following:
if (isset($node->type)) {

… will make it return TRUE for nodes of all the content types your module has been assigned to edit.
// Check for the my-module module in the current node’s content type.
if (isset($node->type) && $node->type->module ==’my_module’ && $node

More control of the experiment is possible by using the menus.

In the left part of the tool bar the user has the possibility to simulate small temperature changes by changing the power of the electric heater.

In the main window the user has the possibility to change the position of the object, the maximum temperature and the total duration of the test.

The user has the possibility to set how many turns the heater must be turned on.

When the experiment has finished the user can save the data in the folder where the application is installed.

If any error occurs during the simulation the user can continue the experiment.

If the user wants to run the experiment in real time he can use the record button. In this case the user must leave the application on his desktop.
